The mission of St. Mary’s Anglican Church is to actively share God’s unconditional grace and love – and this is something that this church has been doing since its inception.
From the beginning, this church has been an integral part of Russell and its surrounding area – providing a focal point for church activities and bringing parishioners into important contact with people in the surrounding community who join us for classes, studies, presentations and dinners. Some of these groups over the years have included:
- Co-op Nursery School
- Senior Citizen’s Club
- Russell Association for the Performing Arts
- Boy Scouts
- Girl Guides
- Victoria’s Quilters
- Horticultural Society
- Home School’s
- The Women’s Institute
- Moms and Tots
- Bible Vacation School
As a parish, we now provide spiritual, financial, or practical support for families in need, in any way we are able. Some of the support we currently provide include:
- financial aid for a child in Africa
- food and financial aid to the local food bank
- Christmas gifts to the local Women’s shelter
- new clothing for those in the north via the Bales for the North Program
- funds to the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund
- emotional support for our community with a Christmas Dinner for those in need at that time of year
St. Mary’s Church was the first in the community to recognize the needs of the handicapped and become wheelchair accessible and to install a wheelchair lift to make our basement available to a senior’s group.
** please note that due to aging technology, the wheelchair lift is currently nonfunctional.
With your free will offerings in our fundraising efforts we can continue our work in our community and continue to offer the community a place where groups can meet.
Go Now in Peace
Go now in peace. Never be afraid.
God will go with you each hour of every day.
Go now in faith. Steadfast, strong and true.
Know He will guide you in all you do.
Go now in love and show you believe.
Reach out to others so all the world can see.
God will be there, watching from above.
Go now in peace, in faith, an in love.
Amen. Amen. Amen.
